Ariston takes its title from a famous British television advert for a washing machine. The tagline was that the machine would go on and on and on and on and on and on.... as if completing a never-ending monotonous repeated action comparable to that of a trance-like state or heightened sense of boredom.
Factories, cardboard boxes, plastic bins, garden ornaments, plants, plugs, TVs, toys, cereal boxes and shopping are used to challenge the immediacy of the world around us and our expectations of day-to-day life.
Ariston brings together a group of artists from both the East and West Midlands whose work relates to the monotony and boredom of everyday life.
